Bee's honey

Grapevine, Grapes

Refractometer for winemakers, wine grape growers, viticulturist has been developed thanks to our own internal development and is designed primarily to determine the sweetness (sugar content) of grape juice. This refractometer is sometimes called also as must meter or more generally as saccharometer although the measuring devices operate differently (they are hydrometers). However, the purpose for which they are used is the same - the measurement of the sugar content in the aqueous solution.
Sugar content in pure sugar/aqueous solution can be measured by any universal Brix refractometer but grape juice contains also non-sugar parts. That is why the viticulturist model is equipped with four scales for measuring of grape must used in the most of European countries. There is used a scale of (Ceskoslovensky) normalizovany mostomer (°NM, °ČNM) in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, Klosterneuburger Mostwage (°KMW, °Kl, °Babo) in Austria and Oechsle Mostwage (°Oe) in Germany, Switzerland and Luxembourg so the winemaker with our refractometer can compare the grapes sweetness according to multiple international standards.
There is also the fifth scale (sign %VOL) for the estimation of alcohol content of naturally fermented grape juice (according to the table in Czech act No 321/2004 Sb. – Czech Act on vitiviniculture).

Sugar (sucrose) solution, jam/jelly/marmalade refractometric solids

If you prefer simplicity in technology, we offer a complete range of single-stage models for measuring sugar content.Sugar content of the syrup, fruit juice, vegetable juice, milk drinks/ dairy beverages as well as concentration of the substance in (mostly binary) solutions use the Brix refractometers. According to the expected sugar content (concentration) of measured solution choose the scale range and one from following models:

If you need to measure sugar solutions and also brines (salt solution) it is not necessary to buy two models! There is also a combined model equipped with "salt" and "sugar" scale (salinity in range from 0 to 28 %, sugar content in range from 0 to 32 °Bx).

Distillates, brandies

Before you start the production of distillate, it is necessary to properly prepare a fruit mash (fruit slush). For the observing of fermentation process (sugar amount decreasing dynamics) we recommend Refractometer for measuring of sugar content in the range from 0 to 32 °Bx (0 až 32 grams of sugar in 100 grams of solution).

For measuring of the alcohol content in brandy we offer two models. The most widely used is refractometer for measuring of alcohol percentage by volume. It is suitable for measuring of the "strength" (%VOL = ABV = percentage by volume) of home-made fruit brandies/fruit spirits as slivowitz/plum vodka, apricot brandy, peach brandy, whiskey, bourbon)

Fewer used model is refractometer for measuring of alcohol percentage by weight.

Beer, Brewing, Homebrewing

When you brew beer (both in the brewery and at home) can be used the Refractometer for beer wort (brewing saccharometer). This refractometer is able to measure the amount of sugar in wort in the range from 0 to 32 °Bx as well as its specific gravity.

Brines, salt solution

Salinity of brines and pickling solutions can be measured in two levels/units. Concentration of more diluted solutions is measured and expressed in parts per thousand (sign ‰), concentration of fewer diluted solutions is measured and expressed in percent (sign %).

For measuring of salt solution of low concentration is used refractometer originally designed as a Refractometer for reefkeeping. It is equipped with two scales - salinity scale in range from 0 to 100 ‰ and scale for determining of salt solution density in the range from 1000 to 1070 kg/m3. It is also suitable for measuring of water for washing seafood, saline mineral water or for preparation of inhalation solutions etc.

For measuring of strong salt solutions is designed the Refractometer for brines equipped with scale in the range from 0 to 35 %. It is is suitable for preparation of brines in bakery, salty cheese plants (e.g. Jadel, Mozzarella, Greek cheese Feta, Balkan cheese, Bulgarian cheese, bjalo sirene, white cheese, salad cheese, sheep cheese), meat brining before grilling, meat and vegetable pickling solutions or also for example for winter road maintenance. This refractometer is sometimes called as "brine meter".

Milk, Dairy beverages, Dairy products

To determine the quality of the fresh milk we offer the Refractometer for estimation of water content in (cow) milk.

During the production of dairy beverages can be used a versatile refractometer equipped with Brix scale in the range from 0 to 32 °Bx.

In case that the maximum value of 32 °Bx is not sufficient (e.g.. during the production of ice cream or sorbet) we offer a versatile refractometer equipped with Brix scale in the range from 0 to 50 °Bx.

Soy milk, Energy drinks

For measuring of the soy milk concentration, which is used for production of energy drinks, can be used a special soymilk refractometer. It is equipped with two scales - scale for determining of soy milk concentration and with a versatile Brix scale in the range from 0 to 32 °Bx. Therefore it can be used also for measuring of the most common sugar solutions - fruit juices.

Vegetable oils, Oil emulsions

For measuring of oil emulsions we usually recommend two models. Refractometer for oil emulsions (equipped with a Brix scale in the range from 0 to 20 °Bx) and refractometer for low concentrated emulsions (equipped with a Brix scale in the range from 0 to 10 °Bx for comfortable reading of low values).

For measuring of vegetable oils (Sunflower oil, Rapeseed oil, Olive Oil Extra-Virgin etc.) is designed following Brix refractometer equipped with the scale in the range from 58 to 92 °Bx.

Coffee

You can find in our offer also a refractometer for baristas. It can be used for measuring of the strength (amount of TDS - Total Dissolved Solids) of coffee during its preparation.
